Designs That Tell Stories By “NOETIA BERLIN”
About the Designer: Anna Franziska Michel studied art pedagogy and intensified her artistic inclination with several foreign semestres in the Vitorian college of the Arts in Melbourne (Australia) and in the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Barcelona (Spain). She continued her vision with the study of fashion design in HTW Berlin and UPM Madrid. During a training period she optimised her skills and abilities with the Madrid fashion label Nihil Obstat. This young designer aquired with her final collection the second place at the New Blood Berlin Fashion Award.
The inspiration for the designs is based on the word “Noetisch”. This is derived from the Greek word “Noesis” and owns the philosophical meaning of the spiritual percipience, thinking and recognize. Both nouns are born from the Greek word “Nous”. This rare word unites the existence of the different internal worlds and their subjective truthfulness. That is about the certainty that every person feels his quite own perceived world as really existing. This can be also compared with heureka moments (a feeling which originates while becoming conscious a sudden knowledge).
The designer as storyteller. They search for stories in the city, among the people, in literature and art. With open eyes and ears they absorb everything and often with the help of their kids they processes creatively. By this search are arising inspiring subjects of the everyday life which they research, questioning and analyze profoundly. They use the compiled knowledge to synthesise a fashion concept for their collection. The collections are conceptual. Every detail has its explanation. There exists no fear of the experimental. The narrative shows the path.
Noetia picks up existing fashion, for example the shirt, but creates it anew. It is exactly the right thing for the modern consumer who likes to experiment and combine with what is already existing.
